About Mark Berger

Mark grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended St. Stanislaus, a boarding school, during which he actively played football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and ran track. It was during his boarding school years that Mark became very interested in lifting & nutrition and he took this newfound passion to LSU. This passion, unsurprisingly, became an integral part of keeping his friends healthy during their college years. After college, Mark continued his journey as a marketing & PR representative for Anheuser-Busch, and although he enjoyed the work and lifestyle, he quickly gained an extra 20 lbs. Needless to say, this did not suit his self image. To that end, Mark decided to change his life by becoming the athlete that he used to be... and began to transform his life into what his life has become today. In short, he quit the beer business, lost 20 lbs, and started training people to be stronger & more fit; perform better at all of life’s activities (including sports); and customize their nutrition & lifestyle habits. Eventually, he found endurance sports and began training for 5 & 10k’s; then on to ½ & full marathons; to triathlons; and eventually Ironman events. With his new passion for endurance sports, he also started coaching in these fields. In the process of training and competing in these events, Mark started to wear down his body and began to acquire small injuries. It was then that he realized that he needed a change; something had to give! And this is how Mark discovered his affinity for Yoga...

Influencing health has not only been Mark's passion, but is his life's work. He has been heavily involved in health & wellness events, retreats, and philanthropy in southern Louisiana and around the world for the past two decades. Mark specializes in yoga, functional fitness, corporate wellness, nutrition, endurance coaching, sports specific training, and life coaching. After being a competitive runner & triathlete, Mark started practicing yoga to recover and heal. Yoga started very much as a physical practice, but it has emerged for him as a way to live and connect to a divine energy within, with others, and with nature. After travelling to India extensively and continuing his studies here in the states, his teaching is a dharma inspired asana that mixes physicality with mental & spiritual well being. He loves bridging a gap between western modalities & thought with the sacred ancient eastern ways. Mark has been the event director, taught yoga as a solo artist, and performed with Big Freedia for many large music/health festivals around the country.
